We finished adding our pretty water colour social media buttons for the website. What do you think? Dashing aren’t they…
Made by a 3 year old who knows what she likes.
Inspired by this piece below as seen in Heals a few weekends back priced at £160 by Ellsworth Kelly.
Ellsworth Kelly was one of the major practitioners of abstract art in the USA after World War II. As early as the 1950s he developed an individual approach that influenced the course of Minimal art, Colour Field Painting, Hard-Edge Painting and Post-Painterly Abstraction.
Lilly said it looked like ribbons. The huge Ikea bag in our office, filled with roll ends & scraps that Lilly plays with when she spends time at the mill and arranges in rows of colours. She knows her shades like no other 3 year old I’ve ever known!
We had an idea… to make our very own Ellsworth Kelly using the ribbon scraps in our own favourite colours:
Ikea Ribba Deep Box Frame Cost £14.99… bargain!
We laid our colours in a row
Then fixed them to a board back with tape & finally framed it. Easy!
This is going to look pretty hung on the wall in Lilly’s new bedroom

Last week we posted about rainbow invitations but today I die. My obsession of saving colourful clippings finally becomes useful. I hope that this week we can inspire Bride/Grooms planning a colourful rainbow wedding and show how colour can be used when planning a wedding. I’ve found a fair bit of wedding related colour on the web but find that when doing ‘colour’, when it comes to weddings it can be quite tacky. I’ve chosen only to use the coolest and most tasteful rainbow wedding images for each of our rainbow mood boards.

This week it’s all about colour. Four or five blog posts of colour in fact.
Our obsession with colour is no secret. If you come into the studio, our shelves are filled with colour coordinated rainbow ribbons. Swarovski crystals shimmer on the walls from their pretty glass jars. And our wedding stationery ranges are framed in colour order.
Whilst classic & traditional colours have seen a re-emergence this season (following the Royal Wedding etc). A hot trend for weddings from last season, which looks as though it’s here to stay is COLOUR. Rainbows of colour – which makes the design industry very happy indeed. With so much colour on offer, why settle for just one colour when your planning your special day.
Today we have a beautiful image of a real wedding with rainbow Bridesmaid dresses by Laura Murray Photography via Before the Big Day (which is a gorgeous UK wedding blog well worth bookmarking) and paired these images with suggestions of coordinating wedding invitations to suit, which are available in all colours of the rainbow:
All the above designs are available from www.madewithlovedesigns.co.uk. We’ve put together some pretty rainbow mood boards filled with snippets of some of the prettiest rainbow wedding images on the web, to inspire you. We plan to show these on the blog throughout the week. Excited? We can’t wait to show these pretties.
We had to use liquid colouring which is not meant to work as well as gel as the colours will not be vibrant enough but IT WORKED! I have to say this was not an easy one to do. The recipe was basic but you have such huge volumes – over 1kilo of butter; 1kilo of sugar; 19 eggs!!! So the whole thing ended up taking around 4 hours with serious amounts of whisking time!
The other day I saw a rainbow. It was beautiful. It’s end seemed to stop at my Lilly flower’s nursery. She is my treasure. Check out this man made Pantone Rainbow found over on Christopher Bevan’s blog. What patience… but what a result…
