A big clean up operation over the Xmas holidays was imminent. The office & studio was a huge tip after the BUSY Christmas rush, we were literally walking over stuff. And we have floors, lovely wooden floors!

A tidy desk = a tidy mind. Especially when you have a creative mind which is already rather messy. Having a messy office feels like my brain cannot compute (if that makes any sense at all). Lot’s of tidy space to play with new ideas & designs.

A new years resolution of mine: To keep flowers on my desk, kept in a pretty gold and glass vase.

And a brand new diary for all of those lovely lists. Lists for my lists kept in an Italian leather gold diary from Zara

Romantic floral backdrop using silk flowers on a bare white wall.

Something pretty – Make a blank wall look pretty with silk flowers and masking tape.

When we’re not making greetings card orders & wedding invitations, we are usually thinking up our next creative outlet or making pretty spaces in the office or at home. Here’s an easy DIY activity to try at home or as wedding venue dressing/decor.

Actually, we are putting all the finishing touches to the office this week. All those fiddley little jobs that get pushed to the bottom of the to do list week in week out when busy. We’ve finally got around to sorting the showroom area to display our furniture & interiors. The idea of ours was to have a different wall with a different theme to allow for the items to be displayed and to help with photography. One of the walls (my favourite) has been decorated with silk flowers. A full wall of flowers, which I’ve been dying to do for months.

We decorated one wall in an array of beautiful silk wild flowers to make a romantic whimsical backdrop for furniture that we sell to display as a showroom corner in the studio. And this one is about as cheap as it gets for wall decor.

You will need:

  • silk flowers in your favourite colours (I picked these wild flowers up from IKEA)
  • masking tape
  • scissors

And a bare wall to decorate.

Stick flower stems in a straight line to the wall using strips of masking tape. Don’t worry about having neat masking tape or hiding the tape behind stems etc, keep it rustic and have the masking tape on display over the stems – it all adds to the charm.

Alternate the flower heads in each row to ensure even splashes of colour and avoid the whole thing looking too asymmetrical and neat. Yep it really is that easy!

This would look great as flower decorations at a wedding reception. Let us know if you do this on your day – we’d love to share your pictures

Add sparkle to evening reception with these enchanted bird cages

I wanted to show you a sneaky peak of something we’ve been working on this week for a client that is so unbelievably cute, warming and lovely that we shot it during the day & at night to capture its glow.

Wedding bird cage decorated with lilac roses & trailing ivy

New to the website are these pretty bird cages which are perfect for wedding receptions as a safe place for guests to post wedding cards / little gifts and the like instead of a wedding card box.

Wedding bird cages are going to be huge for 2010 and are set to stay for 2011/2012 weddings as the hottest accessory for wedding receptions. They are perfect to buy as a single item to put on a table at the evening reception or a table at the entrance to the wedding breakfast or even as table centre pieces for wedding tables (especially when filled with fairy lights as our Enchanted Option to add twinkles to wedding tables).

There are 5 bird cages to choose from in different styles including plain bird cage; trailing ivy bird cage; rose garden bird cage – have any coloured flower to suit your wedding colours; butterfly bird cage & enchanted fairy lights bird cage (more images follow).

The website is currently being updated with all available images of the styled bird cages. Until then, they can still be ordered from the website but not all images are available yet. We will post them as soon as the page is ready.
