Transforming the top floor of a 19th century cotton mill to design studio / office

Before and after pictures of this years big office renovation project and move. The new office/studio is open plan on the top floor of a 19th century cotton mill which has beams and rusty steel pillars and old oil from the machines still on the floors. The walls were peeling and unloved. But there are BIG windows letting in lot’s of natural light (and rain and weeds) and it’s open plan. With a bit of imagination this space could be great:

Even though we’re in, we are pretty much working around boxes and unpacking as we go. We’re still open for business so working on orders (which has always been the priority) so we still have lots to do to make it gorgeous. For now it’s very much a blank canvas.

Before and after pics of the new studio

Earlier in the new year it became obvious that we had outgrown our studio and we needed more SPACE and somewhere BIGGER.

It’s been a busy first part of the year for us. We found the perfect office space – the top floor of a gorgeous grade II listed cotton mill with beautiful views, lot’s of natural light (so much potential) but that needed lot’s and lot’s of work. Here’s a quick before and after of the office build / renovation. As you can see it was pretty grubby before, but not strangers to hard graft (here’s pics from our very first studio space part 1  and part 2 here that was in a different old mill… we have a thing for old mills that need a bit of love…) we got the keys in June and set to work:

We’re in, it’s gorgeous, light bright and spacious and we are just finding our feet again. It’s a nice place to be.

HOW DOES FATHER CHRISTMAS GET INTO A HOUSE WITHOUT A CHIMNEY?

It’s an age old question that’s left Children all over the UK wondering Just how will Santa Claus get into their house this Christmas if they don’t have a chimney?

With only 39 days until christmas rumours are emerging. It’s been said by some that Santa Claus uses magic to make himself teleport from outside to inside for houses that don’t have a chimney. Giving money as a gift?

Personally I LOVE getting dosh for a present. Whether it’s Birthday’s or Christmas presents, cash is always the best gift.

I have a list of beautiful (translate: expensive) things on a Pinterest board that I’d have had to have been a REALLY good girl to get as a present. Cash is the perfect gift because I can add towards buying something really amazing that I’ve been saving up for or wanted for ages.

BUT when it comes to giving gifts, I’m never sure whether the receiver feels the same way as me at receiving money. Is it thought of as lazy, un-thoughtful? Like you couldn’t be arsed, or left it till last-minute so just stuffed some cash into a card. I couldn’t disagree more, giving money is the most thoughtful gift I can give to you. If I’ve not found anything after my excessive online window shopping that I think you would want. If there’s nothing good enough for me to part with my money, that’s good enough to give to you. If I’ve not got a clue what to get you even though I’ve been waiting for hints over the past months each time we meet up. If I think you’re worth more than a last minute dash to get you something from the toiletries isle on my supermarket big shop (talc, shower gel, body cream). I want my birthday (girl/boy) or Christmas giftee to be able to treat themselves to something that they’ve had their eye on for ages but held off buying because it may have felt too indulgent, excessive or whatever (a Clarins hand lotion, Dior lipstick, a Mulberry purse or to put towards their travelling fund to Bali).

If I give you money it’s because I want to spoil you. And it doesn’t have to be a lot of money, but with any amount of money gifted – it’s the thought that counts – far more than a Boots 3 for 2 that I’ve had in the cupboard since last years January sales.

And the thought is in the detail. If I give money as a present, it’s going to be given in a sweet little glassine minilope, on a beautiful card that’s environmentally responsible and packaged in a rustic little brown envie or box tied with jute. Because I have thought about you, I do care and I want you to treat yourself to something you’ve always wanted.

Don’t buy talc. Be thoughtful – give the gift of money for Christmas or Birthdays with our sweet little hashtag cards.

Love Grey & Gold Foil Wedding Invitations?

We’re updating the website with all of our Luxury wedding stationery collections and they are looking FINE.

We spent the last few weeks in the studio getting photography tip top and first up to show off is the stunning gold foil beauties our Gorgeous grey and gold wedding invitations. Printed on luxury grey card (300gsm) with luxury gold printing and written in stylish modern fonts. We love this collection and it’s been a hit already with lovely customers.

Cool, clean, crisp and super stylish. These grey invitations look amazeballs when styled with all grey stationery items to keep everything one shade of grey. Super swish having grey invitations with a different shade of grey. In a recent order for James & Stephen we designed their invitations in the marble grey card but with simple grey info cards & RSVP’s (printed with the gold lettering) still in keeping with their grey and gold theme but mixing it up a little with the differing shades. If you’re feeling brave the grey invitations look striking when they are contrasted with black envelopes. But I have to say it quite frankly knocks our socks off when paired with a hot pink gift card printed in metallic gold ( I do love a grey and pink pairing personally ).

Other card colours are available for your wedding invitations. Loads in fact (not just grey) which all look stunning with the gold printing. We’ve designed this collection so far in navy and gold, black and gold, pink & gold and marble and gold. All of which looked so stunning. Not happy with just gold printing, we’re experimenting at the moment with white inks and copper printing which we’re very excited to show the results of in the coming weeks.
